Tasting Notes

91-93
Vinous Josh Raynolds - 01 Mar 11
Opaque violet. Very sexy, perfumed aromas of ripe black raspberry, olive and flowers; there's a wild, almost gamey quality to this wine's perfume that's pretty interesting. Fresh and juicy in the mouth, with distinct sweetness to the dark berry, cherry-cola, smoky herb and bitter chocolate flavors. The finish is juicy, focused and shows a suave floral quality. Tardieu says that he thinks this wine might turn out like the 1999 version.

Cote-Rotie Vineyard Fine Wine

Cote Rotie

Côte-Rôtie, a distinguished Northern Rhône appellation, is famed for its elegant, complex Syrah-based red wines. The name means "Roasted Slope," reflecting its sun-drenched, steep hillsides. These wines often blend Syrah with a small amount of Viognier, adding floral notes to rich dark fruit flavours like blackberries and plums, with peppery, smoky undertones. Top producers include E. Guigal, Domaine Jamet, and Domaine Côte-Rôtie, all celebrated for crafting some of the region's most revered wines.
